We invite you on a journey to the hotspots of Croatia. Let’s be honest, we already know the 'classics' like France, Spain, and Italy quite well. Escape with us to discover the 11 most beautiful hotspots of stunning Croatia, gather ideas, and get inspired!

1. Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is actually known as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic'. Whether you love culture and are drawn here by the historic walls and stunning views, or a die-hard Game of Thrones fan visiting the movie locations (yes, it was partly filmed here), the city has something for everyone. It's a must-see if you're living and working abroad in Croatia! With up to 10,000 visitors a day, you're not the only one who wants to explore this "pearl". But hey, look on the bright side: there are plenty of people around to take your picture!

2. The island of Vis

Mamma Mia, here I go again... Attention Mamma Mia fans! You can now visit the island where Part 2 was filmed. You might be thinking, "Wasn't that filmed in Greece?" Nothing could be further from the truth. This film was actually shot on the stunning island of Vis in Croatia! Sing, dance and laugh just like young Donna among the beautiful green olive trees of this beautiful island.

3. Krka waterfalls

Take another look at your bucket list, because we're about to add something to it! Have you ever dreamed of swimming in a waterfall? Well, here's your chance! In the Krka National Park you can find up to seven large, emerald and azure waterfalls. One of them, Skradinski Buk, even allows swimming - who could say no to that? This place is definitely a must if you are travelling to Croatia!

4. Croatian cuisine

It may not be an official 'hotspot', but Mediterranean cuisine is guaranteed to be a highlight on your bucket list! Enjoy the most delicious dishes in the many cosy restaurants. With Croatia's location on the Adriatic, you can find sea food on almost every menu. Try the delicious Viška pogača (a traditional Croatian fish pie) or go for the famous Ćevapčići (Croatian minced meat rolls). So make sure to try the local cuisine while traveling abroad in Croatia!

5. Amphitheater, Pula

The Amphitheatre in Pula may not be the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Croatia, but it's definitely worth a visit! This 2,000-year-old arena was built on the orders of the Roman Emperor Vespasian. Gladiator fights took place here (not for the movies, but in real life) with tigers and lions entering the arena through tunnels underneath the arena!

6. The blue cave, Biševo

The Blue Cave Biševo (Modra špilja in Croatian) is not to be missed on your list of hotspots when visiting Croatia. Located near the island of Vis, the light in this cave creates a magical effect (and we mean REALLY magical), making the water inside glow in a brilliant blue! You can explore this cave by boat or dive in, if you have a diving certificate!

7. Rovinj

Cozy, colourful streets, cheerful fishing boats and a breathtaking view of the sea - Rovinj gives you the ultimate holiday feeling! Lose yourself in the charming streets, explore the local Croatian shops or soak up the sun and views from one of the many terraces. This calm, car-free village is definitely worth a visit if you're living and working abroad in Croatia!

8. Plitvicer lakes

Another must-visit hotspot are the Plitvice Lakes in Croatia. Trust us, this has to be on your bucket list for Croatia (or even Europe)! The national park has 16 lakes and up to 90 waterfalls. Discover Croatia's "fifty shades of turquoise" (and yes, we're really just talking about the colour). In 1979, Plitvice Lakes became one of the first national parks to be announced a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it's easy to see why. You won't regret your visit!

9. Island-hopping

Sailing in crystal clear waters, overlooking the stunning Kornati Islands and swimming in hidden coves? Sounds amazing, right? The Kornati Islands in Croatia can be explored by your own boat or on an organised  tour. With 140 uninhabited islands (think Robinson Crusoe), these treasures can only be reached by boat.

🐬 Tip: Keep your eyes open along the way, you might get lucky and spot some dolphins! A pair of goggles is also a must, as you'll spot beautiful fish and turtles underwater!

10. The saltlake Jezero Mir

Don't miss the chance to visit the island of Dugi Otok (one of the Kornati islands, see above) and the Telašćica Nature Park. Here you can find the Jezero Mir salt lake. Some say that this salt lake has healing powers... We can't say for sure, but you never know until you try it! One thing is for sure: you can definitely float there!

11. Zlatani Rat beach

With azure waters, pearly white sands and perfect temperatures, Zlatni Rat beach on the island of Brač is one of the top three beaches in Europe, and it's easy to see why! Bonus: you can always find a sheltered spot on one side of the beach. This is definitely a must-visit if you are abroad in Croatia!
