Step 3 in the application process, preparing the interview. Now it’s getting real, but no worries. We are here every step of the way. Preparing for your job interview with the employer will be a breeze when you are done reading this blog.

🏷️ Note: if the Yobbers recruiter asked you to take some tests during the previous call, make sure they are done before meeting the employer. Some jobs have tests that need to be passed before the job interview takes place. Most of the time it’s just a language test and a written skill test. For any questions, you can always contact your personal recruiter.

It's getting real

After the more informal conversation with your personal recruiters, you will soon meet your potential future employer. You need to prepare yourself well to secure the job. To make your job interview a success, we have a complete checklist for you:

💡 Tip: As you know from your first conversation with the Yobbers recruiter, your next interview will likely be in English. Therefore, you should also prepare all your questions in English. If you are not so comfortable in English, try practicing your job interview with a family member or  friend.

📃 The complete checklist:

  • Research the company and the position
  • Note down all information that might be useful during the conversation
  • Practice your answers to important questions (read these questions below!)
  • Prepare some questions to ask the employer
  • Research the country where you want to move to
  • Keep your resume at hand during the interview
  • Ensure that you have a stable internet connection at the scheduled time of the interview
  • Use a professional background for your video interview
  • Wear something neat and representative that makes you feel good
  • Sell yourself a bit! You don't always have to be modest; convince the employer that you are the right person for this position

Tip from Celeste

"Employers often have a lot of content on their Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube pages. Take a look here to get an idea of what it would be like to work there. During your job interview, also ask about the work culture and how your interviewers experience working at [x] themselves!" - Celeste

Prepare yourself with these questions:

As preparation for the job interview, we have made a list of questions that are often asked by employers. If you already know the answer to these, in English, you will for sure nail the job  interview.

  • Why are you looking for a new job?
  • Why would you want to move to...?
  • Why do you want to work for our company?
  • How do you think your day will look like in this role?
  • Why do you think you are the right person for this job?
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  • Why should we hire you?
  • What are three positive things your previous boss/colleagues would say about you?
  • Can you give some examples of difficult situations you have faced in previous jobs and how you solved them?
  • What are your salary expectations?

With these tips and preparations, you sure are prepared for your interview with the employer!
