Don't miss out on these travel destinations in April!
Spring is in full swing, the sun is starting to make a regular appearance and summer is already beckoning: welcome, April! In this blog, we tell you about our favourite destinations for an April trip, hoping it will inspire you too. Read on!
Kraków, Poland
Kraków is Poland's second-largest city and is ideal for a short getaway. Located in the south of the country, Kraków is becoming increasingly popular among tourists, yet the city remains very affordable. In Kraków, you'll feast your eyes on stunning architecture. Absolute must-sees are the Main Market (Rynek Glowny), the Stare Miasto district and Kazmierz, the former Jewish quarter. If you have the time, you should definitely visit the former concentration camps Auschwitz and Birkenau, just outside the city. Walk the route taken by millions of Jews 80 years ago, starting from the widely known spell at the camp entrance, to the gas chambers, where they lost their lives. The experience will grab you by the throat, but it is a piece of history that should never be lost.
Poland is very religious and as a result, Easter is celebrated very soberly, with church services dedicated to Jesus' resurrection. Yet the city is also cheerfully decorated with yellow ribbons and you will even find Easter markets here and there. The sun will be shining, so you will not be cold at all!
Chefchaouen, Morocco
Chefchaouen is located in northern Morocco, in the Rif Mountains. The city is also known as the Blue City, because of the omnipresent indigo blue houses. Very hard to get your bearings here! :-) Get lost in the hundreds of breathtaking shades of blue and enjoy pleasant summer weather, up to about 22 degrees. High season is still far away, so the city will not be too crowded. Be sure to visit the historic Spanish Mosque, taste the local goat cheese and explore the green nature surrounding the city. Enjoy!
Bilbao, Spain
Explore the Basque Country and visit vibrant Bilbao! Bilbao is the largest city in the Spanish autonomous region of the Basque Country, located in northern Spain. People do not speak Castilian, like most Spaniards, but Basque. Bilbao is best known for its Guggenheim Museum, which is a must-see. You should also go for a nice stroll through el Casco Viejo, the historic city centre, and visit the Santiago Cathedral. Nature lovers: we have got you covered! Hop on a cable car all the way to the top of Mount Artxanda, and enjoy the breathtaking view over Bilbao.
Bhaktapur, Nepal
The least obvious destination in this list, but maybe the most worthwhile. Located in the centre of Nepal, Bhaktapur exudes tradition, with its numerous temples. In April, temperatures are pleasantly warm and the skies often cloudless, giving you a beautiful view of the mountains. On 14th April, the folk festival Bisket Jatra is celebrated, heralding the new year according to the Hindu Bikram Sambat calendar. Keywords here are tradition and authenticity.
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Buenos Aires captures the imagination: the tango, kind people, chipás... Cross the ocean and explore! Buenos Aires is one of the most multicultural and international cities in Latin America, with a unique atmosphere. April is the perfect time to visit the vibrant Argentine capital: the high season has just ended, as has the sticky heat, but the sun shines just as beautifully! You will find the perfect balance between a business metropolis and the cosiness of a family town. We promise you that it will be an unforgettable experience!
Larnaca, Cyprus
Larnaca is a port city located on the southeast coast of Cyprus. It is the ideal location for a sunny getaway, as temperatures can rise up to 22 degrees! Go on endless beach walks and soak up the city’s charm. High season is still far away, so enjoy the calm!
